The words of the following song echo something of my feelings of
coherence yet intangibility in the Enigma Codes. The song was drawn to my attention
several times during the first week of October 2002. I only managed to work
out the words from a recording on the morning of 6th October just before we attended our
first service at Mt Albert Methodist Church. Shortly
after that we joined the Mt Albert Church choir. Thereafter the frequency
and significance of the coincidences increased greatly.
The church organ has always somehow 'spoken'
to me. This song seemed to encapsulate a lot of my experiences.
[Our later site (2006)
voiceofgod.co.uk
elaborates on this and cross connects this Voice of God with
the other ways in which God speaks to man]

eated
one day at the organ,
I was weary and ill at ease,
And my fingers wandered idly
Over the noisy keys;
I know not what I was playing,
Or what I was dreaming then,
But I struck one chord of music,
Like the sound of a great Artenn*
Like the sound of a great Artenn.
t
flooded the crimson twilight,
Like the close of an angels psalm,
And it lay on my fevered spirit,
With a touch of infinite calm,
It quieted pain and sorrow,
Like love overcoming strife,
It seemed the harmonious echo
From our discordant life,
|
t
linked all the perplexed meanings
Into one perfect piece,**
And trembled away into silence,
As if it were loth to cease;
I have sought but I seek it vainly,
That one lost chord divine,
Which came from the soul of the organ,
And entered into mine.
t may be that deaths bright
angel
Will speak in that chord again;
It may be that only in Heavn
I shall hear that great Artenn
It may be that deaths bright angel
Will speak in that chord again;
It may be that only in Heavn
I shall hear that great Artenn

* The
original is Amen. We use Artenn instead. The reason will be clear
from reading Ankhsoun's story.
**When
I first wrote down the words from a recording, I wrote piece. I later
saw that the printed version is peace. Piece still fits better for me,
especially now in the light of
The Four
Jigsaws |
The words are by Adelaide Proctor and the music
is by Arthur Sullivan.
He had tried on several occasions to set it to music for her. It was only
when his brother died that he finally succeeded in this. Perhaps again
it was the combination of personal experience and inspiration that was
needed. It was first published in 1877.
This song is often referred to as Arthur Sullivan's
Lost Chord but that is an unfair attribution, being made principally because
of his accomplishments in the musical field. But he wrote only the music.
The words are Adelaide Proctor's. Here is another excellent example of
what I have referred to on
voiceofgod.co.uk. The inspired hymns are always coupled to inspired
tunes and never do both come through the same mind. God inspires us
according to our talents, our strengths and our needs. I used that last word
advisedly. The word is needs, not wants.
The
tune for another hymn
All
my Hope in God is Founded, again only came to
Herbert Howells through the death of his son.
It seems that God on occasion gives inspiration through the death of
someone close.
Perhaps The Lost Chord
has another meaning. Perhaps it relates to the language of Meaningful
Coincidence. Sometimes I find the juxtaposition of the coincidences,
the power of the messages almost overwhelming. But modern man has
almost completely lost the ability to read the New Hieroglyphics through
which God has chosen to speak to man. Indeed the
cognoscenti tell him that signs and omens are only taken noticed by
primitive or stupid people. But are these cognoscenti not the real stupid
people, the ones who see hope and progress in technology?
Technological man has had but a short span upon this earth and the signs are
that his tenure is already drawing to a close. Meaningful Coincidence is
indeed a form of holy writing. It is sent by God to help us, but only
if we are worth it........ So often, it uses symbolism, so beloved of
Dan Brown, Robert Langdon and the 50 million afficionados who have bought
copies of The da Vinci Code. The difference is that these signs
are no fiction. The question is do you want to learn to read. Or
is the material world all that matters to you?
